Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has said his Manchester City counterpart, Pep Guardiola, was “too quick” when he said the Red Devils are coming back.

Guardiola, speaking to the media on Friday, said “I have the feeling United are coming back, finally United is coming back.

“I’ve seen it on Thursday [against FC Sheriff] and against Chelsea in the first half.

“I said I like what I see of United right now. There will be a lot of teams like United fighting,”

However, after a 1-0 win over West Ham on Sunday, Ten Hag insisted his team is still work in progress.

“I think it’s a bit too quick [for Pep Guardiola to say that Manchester United are coming back]. In the second half we have to manage it better. But the spirit we have is fabulous.

“We have the quality to score goals, but attacking football effectiveness we have to improve that. But we are going in the direction, but being a threat is a long way to go,” Ten Hag said.

1.Crystal Palace vs Arsenal:

This match will capture the attention of many followers of the English top flight not just for being the first game of the season but also for the fact that Crystal Palace is managed by Arsenal legend, Patrick Vieira. In Vieira’s first season in charge of Palace, they drew 2-2 away at the Emirates and defeated the Gunners 3-0 at home.

However, Mikel Arteta has added more top stars to his squad, bringing in the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City.

2. Manchester United vs Brighton:

Apart from the Crystal Palace vs Arsenal games, viewers will also look out for the game between Everton and Manchester United. Supporters of the Red Devils would want to know how far their team will go this season and also the system of play introduced by my new boss, Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils finished fifth in the Premier League last season and failed to qualify for the Champions League. This led to the change of manager. Erik ten Hag joined from Ajax and has effected some changes and rules and supporters cannot wait to watch their darling team return to winning ways even though they have not been too active in the transfer market.

3. West United vs Manchester City:

Manchester City will begin the defence of their title against stubborn David Moyes’ West Ham United at the weekend. Pep Guardiola’s side narrowly defeated Liverpool to win the league title last season. They have added Norwegian goal machine to their rank this summer and would fight to defend their title. Coming up against West Ham would be a test for Pep Guardiola’s side’s strength for the new season.

4. Fulham vs Liverpool:

This is another match viewers would like to tune to for the fact that the Reds finished last season as contenders for the title. Fans will also want to know how the team will perform without one of their main men, Sadio Mane, who left for Bayern Munich this summer. The Reds narrowly lost the title to Manchester City last season and have been tipped by pundits to challenge for the title again this season. They added the likes of Uruguayan striker, Darwin Nuñez to their squad. Pep Guardiola’s side defeated Premier League champions, City in the Community Shield last weekend.

5. Everton vs Chelsea:

Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea will begin their title challenge away to Everton, a team managed by the former star, Frank Lampard.

The Toffees under Lampard defeated the Blues 1-0 towards the end of the 2021-22 season and will hope to start the season on a bright note having avoided relegation last season. Chelsea have been busy in the transfer window to bolster a team that finished third behind Manchester City and Liverpool . Although Everton have not added any quality signing to their ranks, letting some top stars such as Richarlison leave for Tottenham, they will not be an easy nut to crack for the Blues.
